Secure reliable water: About $6,000 is required for a borehole (well) to supply one more school with reliable water, not only for drinking and cleaning, but also to start small sustainable gardening projects on school grounds.
Provide start-up funds for Income Generating Projects: Chishoshe needed less than $1,000 to buy baby chicks and basic supplies, and now they are teaching their students agricultural skills, have eggs and home-grown vegetables that supplement the school nutrition program, and generate enough funds from the sale of adult "broilers" to fund their own school nutrition program.
Teach self-reliance and agency, spread hope: Teachers, parents and students begin to believe in themselves when they no longer have to rely on funding from international organizations.
